Through the 20 years of running moving and estate sales, one thing is for certain, knowing the current trends and being up-to-date on what is trending in the Interior Design world is key to getting the most for items and a successful sale. When I speak to a client, I will ask what the contents of the house contains. They will eagerly tell me they have china, dining room set, and stemware. Though those items are nice, I’ll ask do you have barware from the 1960’s and 70’s? Vintage clothing has been an item that has been a popular trend. And when I say vintage, clothing from the 1990’s is trending. So, I always tell my clients not to donate until after the sale. Donations are wonderful but that can be done after the sale. Another misconception is, if something is old it’s valuable. Unfortunately, that is not always the case.
